Breeze Art Fair
안녕하세요.
올해는 2024 브리즈 아트페어에는 900명이 넘는 예술가들이 포트폴리오를 보내왔습니다. 쨍하게 추운 겨울날, 전국에서 직접 작품을 가지고 인터뷰에 참가한 예술가들의 이야기를 듣다보니 브리즈에 지원한 것이 용기였다는 고백이 이어졌습니다. 2012년 제1회 브리즈 아트페어를 시작했던 용기가 떠올랐습니다. 우리는 ‘용기’ 덕분에 만난 것이지요.
작업실에서 혼자의 시간을 벗어나 다양한 동료와 관람객을 만나고자 하는 용기가 예술가로서의 시작점이 아닐까 생각합니다. 거기에, 예술가에게 말을 걸고 작품 한 점을 나의 공간에 들여와 보는 관람객의 용기가 더해지기를 바랍니다. 브리즈도 그런 마음들을 잊지 않고 변함없는 원칙 위에 새로운 실험들을 해나가려고 합니다.
올해는 처음으로 글로벌 트랙을 열게 됩니다. 해외의 작가들이 비행기를 타고 작품과 함께 한국의 예술가와 관람객을 만나러 옵니다. 오픈콜 기간 동안 고맙게도 다양한 나라에서 지원자들이 있었고, K컬쳐와 한국미술시장에 대한 관심과 기대를 확인할 수 있었습니다. 아주 작은 첫걸음이지만 브리즈는 글로벌 아트페어로 도약하기 위해 다시 용기를 냅니다.
브리즈 아트페어는 NEW와 NOW 부문으로 나누어 운영되고, 처음 시작하는 신진예술가들 뿐 아니라 브리즈와 함께 성장하며 미술시장의 주목을 받기 시작한 작가들까지 만날 수 있습니다. 매년 함께 전시할 작가를 찾기 위해 많은 갤러리스트들이 방문하는 브리즈 아트페어는 취향과 안목이 있는 콜렉터에게 더 없이 즐거운 아트마켓이 될 것입니다.
또한 매년 구매고객의 25%가 미술작품을 처음 구매하는 분들일 정도로 브리즈는 신진 작가와 뉴콜렉터를 연결하는 새로운 시장을 만드는 일에도 기쁨과 보람을 느끼고 있습니다. 브리즈에 오셔서 동시대 예술가 96명의 작품 1,000여 점을 만나보세요.

This year more than 900 artists sent us their portfolios. On a cold winter day, I listened to the stories of artists who participated in the interview with their works. Several people said it was the courage to apply for Breeze. It reminded me of the courage that started the first Breeze Art Fair in 2012. We met because of "courage."
I think the courage to meet various colleagues and visitors is the starting point as an artist out of time alone. In addition, I hope that the courage of the visitors who speak to the artist and take a piece of work into their space will be added. Breeze will not forget those feelings and will try to carry out new experiments on the unwavering principles.
This year will be the first time to open a global track. Artists from abroad come to meet Korean artists and visitors along with their works by plane. Thankfully, during the open call, there were applicants from various countries, and I was able to confirm their interest and expectations of K-culture and the Korean art market. It's a very small first step, but Breeze again takes the courage to leap into a global art fair.
The Breeze Art Fair operates in two categories: NEW and NOW. You can meet not only emerging artists who are starting out, but also artists who have grown up with Breeze and have started to attract the attention of the art market. The Breeze Art Fair, visited by many gallerists every year to find artists to display together, will be a joyous art market for collectors with taste and vision.
Breeze is also happy and rewarding to create a new market connecting emerging artists with new collectors, with 25% of customers purchasing artworks every year for the first time Come to Breeze and see more than 1,000 works by 96 contemporary artists.
